About
Above the Barre Dance Academy offers dance and performing arts training that includes ballet, pointe, tap, jazz, hip hop, acro, acrobatic arts, modern, lyrical, contemporary, pom, and competition dance. Dancers can take part in solos, large group routines, small group routines, auditions, dance conventions, and rehearsals. The studio operates as a full-service dance studio and is an Acrobatic Arts Certified Studio and a More Than Just Great Dancing Affiliated Studio.
• Ages: 3–18 years old
• Schedule: Junior Level ATB Dance Company holds a combined 90-minute class on Tuesday evenings, and Senior Level rehearsals take place on Saturdays in the late morning and early afternoon; Junior Level auditions are scheduled for Saturday 6/13/26 from 1:30–2:45 p.m., and Senior Level auditions are scheduled for Saturday 6/13/26 from 11:45 a.m.–1 p.m., with audition sign-up due no later than 6/12 at 5 p.m.
• Price: There is a membership fee for being part of ATB Dance Company that includes rehearsal fees, choreography fees, competition registration fees, and custom costumes.
Above the Barre Dance Academy offers a competitive and performing company for dancers 9 years old and up. Junior Level dancers compete in the Novice (beginner) level for three regional competitions in jazz and lyrical. A Competition Poms class will audition in August 2025 and will attend two regional competitions. Senior Level dancers compete in pom and jazz large groups and are cast based on ability for lyrical and contemporary small groups, and Senior Level dancers may compete in solos approved by ATB Dance Company directors. The company competes in three local regional studio competitions in the Milwaukee to Oswego area and one local nationals at the Grand Geneva in Lake Geneva. There is an option to set up a private audition if a dancer is unable to attend the scheduled audition. The studio uses the taglines “Dance With Distinction” and “Come to Above the Barre where you will learn to Dance with Distinction!”
Artistic Director and Instructor Victoria Warren is credentialed by examination to teach ballet and pointe, tap, and jazz through a national and statewide dance organization and serves as Company Director. Instructors include Courtney Beltz (Instructor and Company Choreographer), Kaylin Moreland (Instructor and Special Events Company Choreographer), and Victoria Tucker (Instructor for Acro and Dance. Victoria Warren has been teaching, directing, and inspiring dancers for over 20 years in the Northern Illinois area. The studio is a Member & Credentialed with Chicago National Association of Dance Masters and Dance Masters of Wisconsin, is an Acrobatic Arts Certified Studio, is a More Than Just Great Dancing Affiliated Studio, and is IHSA compliant with choreography and competition schedule. Above the Barre Dance Academy is a member of the McHenry Area Chamber of Commerce. The studio states its mission as being a full-service dance studio equipping dancers young and old with a joy and passion for dance.
