About
Before & After School Care and Summer Camp Programs include activities such as Arts & Crafts, games, outside play, and quiet time. The program also offers science experiments, games and crafts, and chances to go to the park and pool. On days off from school, children go on field trips, including what the program describes as awesome field trips.
• Ages: 5–11 years old
• Schedule: Open Monday through Friday from 6am–6pm.
Summer camp is available for children 5 to 11 years old, with a morning snack and afternoon snack provided. In the Before & After School Care and Summer Camp programs, a morning snack and afternoon snack are provided. Van transportation is available for Riverwood and Hilltop, and care is also available during school breaks and snow days for all District 15 schools. The programs include special days and sometimes entire weeks dedicated to a fun theme or adventure. The Before & After School Care and Summer Camp programs are DCFS licensed in child care. The programs are described as a safe and healthy environment for children needing day care.
The leadership team includes Before & After School and Summer Camp Director Ashley Metcalf, Director of Children & Family Ministries Heather Castaing, Parish Coordinator Jenelle Buchert, Preschool Director Jennifer Walker, Finance Director Willetta Wheeler, and Interim Lead Pastor Robert C. Kinnear. The stated mission is to love people wherever they are, live the grace of God in Jesus Christ, and grow in faith and service. Shepherd of the Hills plays a role in McHenry and the surrounding communities through a Benevolence program that provides food and monetary support for those in need throughout the year, along with special programs at Easter, Thanksgiving, and Christmas that offer meals for families and presents for children.
