About

Girl Scouts of Greater Chicago and Northwest Indiana Camps & Outdoor Programs offers activities such as archery, canoeing, creek walking, hiking, swimming, cooking over a fire, making crafts, playing games, building a fire, and using a high adventure course. Campers can also take part in kayaking, sailing, a team building challenge course, orienteering, snowshoeing, wagon rides, campfire cookouts, swim time, and s’more roasting. Campers can choose to stay for a three-day sampler, a week, or longer through three-day backcountry programs, one-week programs, and two-week programs.

• Ages: 5–18 years old
• Schedule: Day camp programs run Monday through Friday, with options for three-day, one-week, and two-week sessions, including overnight and backcountry programs
• Price: Bus transportation is an additional $100 per camper per week for full-week day camp, $60 per camper per week for half-week, and $20 per camper per week for the overnight experience; each reservation includes a $15 non-refundable processing fee in addition to the nightly fee for each site or unit

For more than 100 years, Girl Scout camp has been a place where girls try new outdoor experiences. The summer camp experiences are described as designed to grow with each girl, building skills, resilience, and a lifelong connection to the outdoors. Backcountry trips involve intensive, next-level primitive camping and taking a trip “off the grid,” where campers take an active role in organizing trip details, carrying or paddling all gear, cooking meals over a fire, purifying water, navigation, and following the Leave No Trace principles.

All Girl Scouts of Greater Chicago and Northwest Indiana troop leaders and members reserving property must complete the Volunteer Basics Learning Path, hold current First Aid/CPR certification, and complete any additional required outdoor trainings in GS Learn based on the type of experience reserved. For all reservations, at least one adult with Cabin Camper and Fire Safety & Building gsLearn trainings is required, and for rustic camping reservations, one adult must complete the Rustic Camping and Outdoor Cooking gsLearn trainings and the in-person Outdoor Adult Training: Fire, Cooking, Rustic session. Girl Scout members, non-members, other Girl Scout councils, and non-Girl Scout groups are welcome to reserve camp properties, with a certificate of insurance required for non-Girl Scout groups, and property reservations are open through September 2027.

Guided recreation opportunities are reduced in June–August due to the active summer camp season, and camp properties will be closed in observance of specified national holidays, with primitive sites closed from late fall through early spring. The Swim & Stay bundle includes a group’s lodge reservation, a lifeguarded swim time, s’more roasting supplies, and one facilitated activity of choice. A new troop summer day camp experience is available for troops to attend summer camp together, and a camper is not fully registered until fees are paid in full, with registration subject to cancellation if full payment is not received by June 1, 2026.

One Girl Scout Junior shared, “Archery was really cool, I enjoyed it a lot. I would love to come back to camp next summer.” Another Girl Scout Junior said, “I met a lot of cool and funny people that taught me things I did not know before.” A Girl Scout Cadette said, “I had a very fun experience learning how to build a fire for our cookout.”
