• Price: An NYS Reversible Game Jersey is required and can be purchased for $18 (not included in registration fee).
The Naperville Youth Soccer Program is a recreational program that emphasizes fun and learning, prioritizes each child’s opportunity to be part of a team, learn new skills, socialize, and be active, and reinforces the importance of sportsmanship. Each NYS participant has equal opportunities for participation and gains a better knowledge, understanding, and appreciation of the game while learning good sportsmanship, teamwork, responsibility, and discipline. Participants feel a sense of accomplishment and self-esteem, enhance social skills, enjoy the camaraderie of playing on a team, and maintain the desire to continue playing soccer.
The program offers a Young 4s division in spring only, Pre-K and Kindergarten divisions in both fall and spring, and 1st–6th grade divisions in both fall and spring. Pre-K and Kindergarten participants register based on age, regardless of grade level. Max player limits are Young 4s through 1st grade: 10 players, 2nd through 3rd grade: 14 players, and 4th through 6th grade: 16 players, with no exceptions. Only individual registration is allowed within Naperville Youth Soccer, while team registration is allowed starting at the 1st grade level within the Naperville Premier Soccer League. In order for a team to continue within the season, a head coach volunteer must be secured and the minimum number of registrants must be met, and if a team is cancelled, registrants may transfer to another team or withdraw and receive a full refund. Spring 2026 registration opens at noon on December 16, 2025 for Coed Academy, Coed Young 4's, and resident girls, at noon on December 17, 2025 for resident boys, and at noon on December 18, 2025 for non-residents.
All coaches are volunteers, and no previous coaching or soccer experience is required to coach. Coaches receive a training manual, access to free optional coach clinics before the season, and an equipment bag that includes two age-appropriate soccer balls, cones, and a first aid kit. A benefit of coaching is priority registration for the following outdoor soccer season. Players are encouraged to wear athletic attire, shin guards, and athletic shoes or rubber cleats, and to bring an age-appropriate soccer ball and a water bottle.
The leadership team includes Stephanie Ainslie, Soccer Program Manager; Betsy Nyman, Soccer Coordinator At-Large; and Rachel Dickinson, Academy and NYS Young 4s Coordinator. Stephanie earned a Bachelor of Science in Recreation Administration with a Recreation Management and Athletic Coaching sequence from Illinois State University, has worked across public, commercial, and non-profit recreation sectors, has been an active member of the Illinois Park and Recreation Association, and served for five years as the Athletic Committee Chair. She also worked as a swim instructor at Centennial Beach during college. Betsy holds a Master’s Degree in Industrial/Organizational Psychology and joined the Naperville Park District to give back to her hometown. Rachel coordinates the Academy and NYS Young 4s programs.
Naperville Park District has been an Illinois Association of Park Districts (IAPD) member since 1968 and is an IAPD Member in Good Standing 2026.
