Maplebrook II Swim & Racquet Club Tennis & Pickleball Program offers tennis and pickleball through youth lessons, adult clinics, and competitive play. The program includes kids tennis classes such as Parent/Child tennis, Kids Beginner 1, Kids Beginner 2, Kids Advanced Beginner, and Kids Intermediate, as well as Junior High Team and High School Team tennis. Parent/Child tennis for ages 3–5 meets on Tuesdays from 7:45 AM to 8:15 AM, and each participant in this class should bring a tennis racket. Kids Beginner 1 tennis for ages 5–7 meets in 30-minute blocks on Monday/Wednesday late morning and early afternoon, Tuesday/Thursday late morning to early afternoon, and Tuesday/Friday from 5:00 PM to 5:30 PM. Kids Beginner 2 tennis for ages 8–12 meets in 60-minute sessions on Monday/Wednesday mornings and midday, and Tuesday/Thursday mornings and early afternoon. Kids Advanced Beginner tennis for ages 7–10 meets in 60-minute sessions on Monday/Wednesday late morning and early afternoon, and Tuesday/Thursday mid-morning and 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM. Kids Intermediate tennis for ages 11–14 meets Monday/Wednesday from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM and Tuesday/Thursday from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM.
Adult Cardio Tennis meets Monday from 8:00 AM to 9:30 AM and Tuesday from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM. Adult Beginner/Advanced Beginner tennis meets Tuesday from 5:30 PM to 6:30 PM, Adult Advanced Beginner/Intermediate meets Wednesday from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM, Adult Advanced Intermediate meets Tuesday and Wednesday from 8:00 PM to 9:30 PM, and Adult Advanced tennis meets Thursday from 8:00 PM to 9:30 PM. Junior High Team tennis holds practice Monday and Wednesday from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM with competitive match play on Fridays from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM, while High School Team tennis practices Monday and Wednesday from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM with skill-based match play on Fridays from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM. Ladies B1 and B2 Team tennis and Ladies C Team tennis offer Friday morning match play from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM, with B1 practices on Monday and Thursday evenings, B2 practice on Monday evening, and Ladies C practice listed as TBD. Kids Beginner Pickleball meets Tuesday and Thursday from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM, Kids Intermediate Pickleball meets Tuesday and Thursday from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM, and Adult Beginner Pickleball meets Tuesday from 8:00 PM to 9:00 PM.
The program adds pickleball lessons and drills to the racquet sports offerings for Summer 2026, and new pickleball nets are available. Makeups for weather-related cancellations are held during the week following the end of each session. The tennis and pickleball program is built on the expertise of professional staff. Club membership is open to the public, subject to availability, and the club is a community club owned by its members.
The leadership team includes Tennis Pro Hugh Flanagan, Youth Tennis Lead Kim Richards, and Tennis Chair Anna Vriesema. Coach Hugh Flanagan is returning for his 15th season at Maplebrook II, bringing 25 years of coaching experience at the Naperville Tennis Club and a 4.5 USTA ranking, with experience developing players ranging from IHSA state qualifiers to USTA enthusiasts. Youth Tennis Lead Kim Richards is a former DePaul University varsity athlete and certified teaching professional who has mentored young athletes since 2021 at the Naperville Park District and Naperville Tennis Club, with a focus on technical refinement and mental resilience. Several other coaches from the Naperville tennis community support the program and instruct lessons and drills.
