Gem City Gymnastics & Tumbling, LLC was founded in 2006 by Jacob Huff, Zeke Cernea, and Katie Cernea, and this year marks its 20th anniversary. The gym is a 16,000 square foot air-conditioned facility with AAI equipment and includes an in-ground foam training pit measuring 24 feet by 22 feet. The program describes itself as Quincy’s premier gymnastics, tumbling, and all star cheer facility and as the premier facility in the tri-state region surrounding Quincy, Illinois. Spring enrollment begins December 1, spring classes start January 5, and the first payment is due on the first day of class.
The stated goal of Gem City Gymnastics and Tumbling, LLC is to provide every child with a healthy and positive environment for personal achievement in gymnastics, tumbling, and cheer. The program states that safety is a number one priority and that its professionally trained staff are trained so that parents can feel at ease when their children are in the programs. The mission also states that staff make it a priority to help every child work toward achieving one of their personal goals before they leave the programs, whether in gymnastics or another activity.
Gem City serves hundreds of families each week through its teams, classes, and other services. The tumbling team competes in power tumbling under the rules of the United States Trampoline & Tumbling Association (USTA), and the gym is home to three 2025 USTA National Champions and one Elite National Team Member. Athletes are invited to the tumbling team once a roundoff and two back handsprings can be safely and consistently completed.
