About

Sugar Creek Youth Golf Programs include a Junior Golf Camp, youth golf instruction on the driving range and putting green, on-course play in foursomes, group clinics with driving range, putting green and short game stations, and 9-hole playing strategy sessions. Youth golf instruction covers safety, etiquette, grip, stance, posture, full swing, short game, and putting. In the 2026 Youth Program, each week focuses on using one of the clubs, and golf clubs are not included.

Sugar Creek Youth Golf Programs are part of Sugar Creek Golf Course, which is owned and operated by the Elmhurst Park District and the Village of Villa Park and serves as the home course for the Willowbrook boys and girls and York girls golf teams. Sugar Creek camp counselors and professional staff provide guidance and general etiquette on order of play, pace of play, teeing area and putting green etiquette, tee-to-green and green-to-tee direction, and supervise overall player conduct, and any misconduct or poor attitude issues may result in removal from the course and contacting the participant’s immediate adult caregiver. The High School Golf Program is open to anyone ages 14–17, regardless of which high school they attend, is coed for all player ages 14–17, and includes equipment analysis and advice on how to make the most out of practice time.

Instruction and clinics are held on the driving range and putting green and are directly followed by consecutive tee times for foursomes on the golf course. The High School Golf Program schedule is structured so students attend five group clinics of 1½ total hours each week and four 9-hole playing strategy sessions between June 11 and July 16, and it offers an opportunity for players to become familiar with Sugar Creek Golf Course as the home course for the listed high school teams. For the 2026 Youth Program for ages 8–13, clubs needed for class are one short iron, one mid-iron, one driver, and one putter, and missed classes for personal reasons are not available for rescheduling for make-ups.

For Junior Golf Camp, participants register for one day per week for five weeks, with summer 2026 dates offered Monday through Thursday and a designated holiday off week with no camp on June 29, June 30, July 1, and July 2, and tentative make-up days for cancelled classes due to inclement weather scheduled for July 20–23. In the 2025 Junior Golf Camp, ages 11–13 have a 7:45–9:00 am drop-off followed by clinic and on-course play from 9:00 am–noon, ages 8–10 have a 9:00–10:15 am drop-off followed by clinic and on-course play from 10:00 am–12:15 pm, and ages 6–7 meet from 10:30 am–noon on the driving range and a 4-mini course. In the 2026 Youth Program for ages 8–13, boy sessions run April 27–May 18 on Mondays with ages 8–10 from 4:00–4:30 pm and ages 11–13 from 5:00–5:40 pm, and girl sessions run April 28–May 19 on Tuesdays from 5:00–5:40 pm.

The waitlist policy states that if a selected camp is full, the participant is placed on a waiting list after completing registration for that day, and if an opening becomes available, the participant is contacted according to position on the waitlist and has 48 hours to respond and provide payment to secure placement. The last week of July is designated for rainout makeups from any previous weeks. Kevin Goss, Sugar Creek’s Golf Course Superintendent since 2009, received the 2025 Environmental Leaders in Golf Award for Communication and Outreach.
