Camp Rhino

Camp Rhino offers arts and crafts, acting, storytelling, improv, and humor activities. It also includes voice recording and story work with sound effects, local and state history field trips in and around Monroe County, space-themed science and exploration, field trips and water play, outdoor adventure activities, circus skills, three-dimensional art, and nature dyes and botanical printing. The program serves ages 3 to 18.

Programs

• Arts and crafts camp
• Acting, storytelling, and improv camp — Campers explore acting, storytelling, responding to other actors in improv scenarios, and humor, with special guests and time to tell their own stories.
• Voice recording and stories camp — Campers record stories audibly and explore sound effects to enhance productions. The camp includes special guests and field trips related to podcasts, radio, audiobooks, and more.
• Local and state history field trip camp — Campers take field trips in and around Monroe County to explore local and state history, visit landmarks, museums, and exhibits, and learn facts about the local area.
• Space themed science and exploration camp — Campers explore what life is like for astronauts on the space station and on missions to the moon and beyond through hands-on, multi-modal activities.
• Field trip and water play camp — Campers venture beyond the city, explore new locations and experiences each day, and have opportunities to splash in water.
• Outdoor adventure camp — Campers explore urban and natural spaces, build natural forts, pitch tents, identify useful plants, discover wild edibles, practice fire-building skills, and create nature-based art and structures.
• Circus camp — Campers learn juggling, plate spinning, devil sticks, diablos, stilt walking, acrobatics, clown acts, and more, and the camp culminates with a Circus performance and Midway.
• Three-dimensional art camp — Campers turn ideas into touchable creations while learning balance, texture, form, simple sketch-to-sculpture planning, collaboration, and creative risk-taking.
• Nature dyes and botanical printing camp — Campers forage and garden, create paints, inks, and dyes from plants, minerals, and other materials, and make artwork using fabric dyeing, sun printing, botanical printing, and more.

About the provider

Camp Rhino is part of Harmony School. Harmony School was founded in 1974, is accredited by Cognia, and states a mission to prepare young people to live in and contribute to a heterogeneous democratic country. Harmony families help with maintaining the school environment, field trips, fundraisers, parent coordinators, substitutes, club leaders, and drivers.
