Monroe County YMCA Summer Camp is part of an organization whose mission is “To put Christian principles into practice through programs that build healthy spirit, mind, and body for all.” One membership provides access to both the Southeast and Northwest Y branches. The YMCA of Monroe County describes itself as a charitable organization with an inclusive environment committed to enriching the quality of family, spiritual, social, mental, and physical well-being, and it works side by side with neighbors so that people of all ages, incomes, and backgrounds can learn, grow, and thrive.

The leadership structure connected to camp and aquatics includes an Aquatics Director, a Tiger Shark Swim Coach, a Chief Operating Officer, and a Youth and Family Program Coordinator, with Day Camp Counselors reporting to the Youth and Family Program Coordinator. The Aquatics Director position requires a bachelor’s degree, current American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification, CPR/AED and First Aid certifications maintained during employment, and securing Lifeguard Instructor certification within the first year, along with at least two years of related aquatics experience preferred and proficiency in Microsoft Office. The Y Fieldhouse, which hosts select Y programs and Sports Camps, is described as a state-of-the-art indoor baseball facility that was originally built in 2012 as the Gymnastics Center.

Testimonials from YMCA participants describe their experiences with various Y programs, including personal training, Aqua Fit, and health and balance classes, and express appreciation for staff and programs at the YMCA of Monroe County.
