MotionArts Dance Academy

MotionArts Dance Academy offers Creative Movement for ages 3-5, Pre-Ballet for ages 5-7, Ballet 1 for ages 7 and up, Ballet 2 through Ballet 7, Pointe, Variations, and Contemporary/Modern classes. Creative Movement includes follow-the-leader and game-style movement exercises, Pre-Ballet introduces basic dance technique, musicality, studio etiquette, and following multi-step directions, and Contemporary/Modern classes include body awareness, movement quality, musicality, improvisation, and dance creation.

Programs

• Creative Movement — 3-5 (must be 3 before the start of the class) · Playful class with follow-the-leader and game-style movement exercises; dancer must be comfortable without a parent in the room.
• Pre-Ballet — 5-7 · Introduces basic dance technique, musicality, studio etiquette, and following multi-step directions.
• Ballet 1 — 7 and up · Two semester minimum; introduces basic technique, musicality, and classroom etiquette.
• Ballet 2 — Two semester minimum; builds on Ballet 1 and requires permission of instructor to advance.
• Ballet 3 — Two-three semesters is typical; builds on Ballet 2 and requires permission of instructor to advance.
• Ballet 4 — Two semester minimum; continues ballet technique, combinations, musicality, and performance quality.
• Ballet 5 — Upper level students may attend en pointe; requires permission of instructor to advance.
• Ballet 6 & 7 — Students continue advanced ballet technique and combinations; upper level students may attend en pointe.
• Pointe — Minimum age for consideration and required testing is 11. · By permission of instructor only; student must be advanced to ballet 5 and take a minimum of 2 ballet classes per week in addition to Pointe class.
• Variations — Ballet 5+ students · When available; learn classical ballet variations from major ballets.
• Contemporary / Modern 1/2 — Ballet 1&2 · Students learn a variety of Modern/Contemporary dance techniques, including body awareness, movement quality, musicality, improvisation, and dance creation.
• Contemporary / Modern 3/4 — Ballet 3 & 4 · Students learn a variety of Modern/Contemporary dance techniques, including body awareness, movement quality, musicality, improvisation, and dance creation.

• Current session: 2026 Fall Semester (Aug 15–Dec 10, 2026)
• General schedule: Fall Semester begins Saturday, August 15th and ends Thursday, December 10th. No classes October 15-18 and November 22-29. Drop-in class is available for busy advanced teens and adults. Try-it classes are available in some children's classes after the first week if there are openings. Dancers interested in taking multiple classes are eligible for a 10% discount on additional classes. All students are required to enroll in ballet to be eligible to enroll in jazz or contemporary.
