FIRST LEGO League has a mission to spark curiosity and confidence in young minds through hands-on STEM experiences. The program is a global STEM experience for young minds and guides youth through STEM learning and exploration at an early age. It features age-appropriate divisions that build upon each other, from playful discovery to real-world problem-solving through coding, engineering, and research. The FIRST LEGO League Explore division is for ages 6–10 and focuses on the fundamentals of engineering, while the FIRST LEGO League Challenge division is for ages 9–16 and has friendly competition at the heart of the program. Students around the world come together to take on themed challenges and connect at high-energy local and global events that celebrate creativity, collaboration, and innovation. Students in the program understand the basics of STEM and apply their skills in an exciting competition, and they gain productive learning habits, confidence, and teamwork skills.
