Classes and activities take place in both the Main Gym (gymnastics class, team gym) and Gym B (preschool and tumbling facility, including Dragon Quest).
• Ages: 3–17 years old
• Schedule: Business hours Monday–Friday 3:00pm–7:00pm and Saturday 9:00am–7:00pm, with Open Gym on Saturdays during Fall, Winter, and Spring sessions from 1:00–2:30pm and during the Summer session from 10:30am–12:00pm
Victory Gymnastics Academy was founded in 2013. The academy is fully owned and operated by Gary Stam, who has been involved in gymnastics as a gymnast and coach for 48 years. Its stated mission is to serve the community by creating a safe and fun place for children of all ages to develop the skills to reach their gymnastics goals, and it describes its approach as “A Gym Culture Where Everyone is Welcome. Success is measured one student at a time.” The program states that it is attentive to the various skill levels of its students and coaches them accordingly, offering beginning and advanced classes in age-ranged groups, sometimes grouping kids in classes by ages 5–10 years old and 10 and up.
Victory Gymnastics Academy offers tumbling classes that teach basics through advanced tumbling and states that, through reinforcing safe habits, teaching strength training, and using hands-on spotting techniques, it can prepare children for other sports such as cheer, gymnastics, trampoline and tumbling (T&T), dance, and martial arts. The program notes that gymnastics is a very technical, complex, and complicated sport and that gymnastics is for everyone, no matter how gymnastically inclined, with a goal of helping each gymnast become the best they can be and “finding a VICTORY in everything that they do no matter how big or small.”
Victory Gymnastics Academy reports that it has produced High School Gymnasts of the Year, as well as state, regional, and national champions for both high school and club gymnastics and other sports including track and diving. Since starting the program, it has had a gymnast receive a full athletic scholarship to the University of North Carolina, a level 9 national champion, and many state, regional, and national team members and champions, and it has supplied sectionals, regional, and state champion gymnasts to both high school programs. The academy states that it is very proud that many former gymnasts have become athlete of the year in gymnastics, track, and diving.
