Classes include activities such as a focus activity to help students get “Tiger Focused,” aerobic activity, board breaking, and class demos. The program is a no-contact program with no sparring or fighting, and the use of techniques on others is discouraged.

• Schedule: Classes are held year-round.

Crouching Tigers teaches LifeSkills and SafetyLessons to children aged 2–7 through weekly classes that blend captivating storytelling with traditional training techniques in a two-year program. Each class uses engaging stories and Tiger characters with a focus on intuition, personal development, and crucial life lessons. Promotion ceremonies are held three times per year and include board breaking and rank promotion. A one-time registration fee includes a Crouching Tigers t-shirt, Crouching Tigers belt, gear bag, and parent guide, and families have access to an app with on-demand programming.

The program is led by certified instructors (Senseis). The leadership team includes Founder and CEO Olivia Roney Mitchell, Indiana Program Director Kristen, Indy North West Assistant Program Director and Crouching Tigers Sensei Gillian, Indianapolis Central/South Assistant Program Director for SouthEast Indy territory Victoria, Master Trainer Sensei Steve, and Marketing Director of Culture and Engagement Laurie.

Olivia Roney Mitchell founded Crouching Tigers in 2007 at age 20, and for nearly 20 years Crouching Tigers has been committed to instilling essential LifeLessons and SafetySkills through martial arts. Crouching Tigers is currently offered in childcare facilities, preschools, elementary schools, and community centers across Indiana and Illinois. The program’s mission is to inspire children to make positive choices.

Parent and teacher testimonials describe children looking forward to weekly lessons with their Senseis, participating in promotion ceremonies with board breaking and belt stripes, and taking part in end-of-course ceremonies. Testimonials also mention toddlers learning listening and empowerment through kind actions and words, instructors modeling respect through positive interactions, and students having fun during karate class and class demos each semester. Parents report seeing changes such as increased confidence and independence in their children over the course of a session.
