Indianapolis Ballet is the first professional resident ballet company to be based in the Circle City in over a decade and is described as Indiana’s premier destination for professional dance instruction. Indianapolis Ballet is one of only a handful of professional companies in the United States championing the technique and creations of Balanchine and has been entrusted with a large repertoire of Balanchine's masterworks.

The organization’s mission states that Indianapolis Ballet embraces the history and future of classical ballet through dynamic performances, visionary new works, extraordinary training, and transformative community outreach programs to the widest possible audiences. Leadership includes Michael Vernon as Interim Artistic Director and Victoria Lyras as Artistic Director and Founder of both Indianapolis Ballet and the Indianapolis School of Ballet.
