Indianapolis School of Ballet offers the Young Children’s Program for children ages 3 to 7, with movement, music, and imagination, plus an annual May We Dance showcase. It also offers the Pre-Professional Program for students placed by skill level, with classical ballet and other dance forms such as tap, jazz, and modern.

Programs

  • Young Children’s Program — Children ages 3 to 7 · Joyful, age-appropriate program blending movement, music, and imagination; includes annual May We Dance showcase. Students are placed by age as of August 30, 2026.
  • Pre-Professional Program — Open to students based on placement assessment · Advanced training in classical ballet and other dance forms such as tap, jazz, and modern; students are placed by skill level.
  • Professional Trainee Program — Transformative, full-day training experience for advanced dancers; by invitation only. In-person program experience or audition is required for consideration.
  • Open Dance Program — Ages 13 and above; classes for all adults and teens, ages 13 years and up · For beginners, former dancers wanting to return to dance, and those looking to use dance to stay fit. Technical work is presented in a sequential, graded format.
  • IB & Dance for Parkinson’s — Every Wednesday, 10:45-11:45am · Dance class for individuals living with Parkinson’s disease and their caregivers; classes are free of charge.
  • Summer Intensive — Students must be 10 years of age by June 1 · Immersive experience offering weeks of all-day training in downtown Indianapolis.
  • Summer Camps — Children starting at age 5; perfect for young dancers ages 5–10 · Sleeping Beauty–themed Ballet & Art Camp in downtown Indianapolis; half-day and full-day options available.
  • Summer Classes — Parents should select a class based upon the student’s age as of June 1, 2026 · Once or twice per week across five weeks in the summer · 5-Week Summer Class Program.

About the provider

Indianapolis School of Ballet was established in 2006. It states that it is Indiana’s premier destination for professional dance instruction and the only studio in the area specializing in the Balanchine technique.

The school states that everyone is welcome in its Pre-Professional Program and that all are welcome at Indianapolis Ballet regardless of race, gender, age, socioeconomic status, geography, sexual orientation, and special needs. Students are placed by age for the Young Children’s Program and by skill level for the Pre-Professional Program. Professional Trainee Program is by invitation only. Registration for the 2026-2027 Season is open.
