About

Music At Play is an early childhood music program of the Indianapolis Children’s Choir that gives children a beginning musical foundation. Children take part in the Music At Play early childhood music program and are introduced to the broader range of ICC offerings, which include choirs and music education programs such as the Foundations Choir, Preparatory Choir program, Jubilate Choir for singers with special needs, and performing and regional affiliate choirs.

• Ages: 18 months–5 years old
• Schedule: The Indianapolis Children’s Choir holds 110 rehearsals and music classes each week.

The Indianapolis Children’s Choir, which runs Music At Play, was founded in 1986 by Henry Leck and is under the leadership of Executive Artistic Director Joshua Pedde. Its mission is to transform lives through powerful choral experiences and music education, empowering young voices to grow, connect, and lead on stage and in the community. The organization’s work includes Concert Season performances, holiday concerts such as the Angels Sing holiday concert broadcast each year by 13 WTHR, and touring nationally and internationally. The ICC has performed on every continent except Antarctica, has produced 15 CDs including collaborations with the Canadian Brass and the Moscow Chamber Orchestra, and its music is available on online platforms such as Amazon Music, iTunes, and Spotify. The ICC has performed by blind audition for national professional music associations including the American Choral Directors Association, National Association for Music Education, Organization of American Kodály Educators, and American Orff-Schulwerk Association, and has appeared at events such as Super Bowl XLVI, the 100th running of the Indianapolis 500, and ceremonies and galas across central Indiana.
