About

NXG Youth Motorsports Academy gives participants hands-on instruction in the classroom and on the track. The program includes karting as a core activity, with a focus on the world of motorsports. Science, technology, engineering, arts, and math are all parts of the NXG experience, and NXG programs include positive and safe, hands-on experiences.

Over 18 seasons, the NXG Youth Motorsports Academy and the Grand Prix has accomplished its work with youth through these activities. NXG (Nexgeneracers) exists to motivate and prepare youth, especially those from under-represented communities, to be conscientious drivers on the road and in their lives. NXG Youth Motorsports, Inc. is a non-profit 501c3 organization. All adult NXG staff and crew submit background checks and complete child safety training. The leadership team includes Executive Director Rod Reid, Executive Administrator Marcia Zgirta, Director of Community Engagement Michael Smith, and several board members and officers such as Harry Alston, Jr., Ph. D., Tracy Barnes, Jessica M. Brand, Scott J. Collins, Chenel Darby, Asha Earle, Reggie Henderson, Sharla Osuna Rios, and Lauren George Sparkman. One participant, Steven Scott (NXG 2019), shared that he learned skills at NXG related to making split-second decisions, adjusting to challenges in real time, reading situations, and turning chaos into control and fear into confidence.
