The Summer Reading Program includes reading, listening to audiobooks, reading aloud to someone, and having someone read to the participant. Participants track the total time they spend on these activities and earn prizes at 1 hour, 5 hours, 10 hours, 15 hours, and 20 hours of reading. Registration is available at Indianapolis Public Library locations or directly through Beanstack.
• Ages: Birth–18 years old
• Schedule: May 30 – August 1, 2026
Registration for the Summer Reading Program opens May 1. Beanstack allows families to be linked together so all family members can be accessed with one login. Participants can choose age levels (Preschoolers: Birth to 5; School Age: 6 to 12; Teens: 13 to 18; Adults: 18+) to download and print a reading tracker, see prize choices, get reading recommendations, and see workshop and program schedules and register. Local summer camps, daycares, or schools can register as a group by contacting Outreach Services at 317-275-4075, and local summer camps, daycares, or schools can register as a group to participate in Summer Reading. The mission of the program states that the Library is the ultimate playground for creativity, imagination, and discovery whether someone is a beginning reader or a bookworm, and invites participants to join the adventure, learn something new, and become a lifelong reader.
