About
Tutored by Teachers offers high-dosage tutoring, ELA tutoring, math tutoring, foundational literacy skills instruction, and SAT/ACT test prep through personalized virtual instruction delivered by teachers. The program also runs a Summer Academy, Saturday School, bilingual/ELL support, virtual intervention, Tutoring for All, vacancy support, and SAT prep. Programs can be delivered at school, at home, or both, often in small groups of three or fewer students with the same teacher throughout the term in live, synchronous, video-based sessions aligned with state standards.

Tutored by Teachers is on a mission to close the opportunity gap by serving high-need students with personalized virtual instruction delivered by highly qualified and diverse teachers. The program uses curriculum that leverages the Science of Reading for foundational literacy skills and math curriculum aligned with Renaissance Learning’s Focus Skills analysis and Achieve the Core, and it offers a 20-day Summer Academy sequence for K–8 students. Tutored by Teachers has a network of more than 6,800 live U.S.-certified or U.S.-credentialed teachers, with an average of 12 years of classroom experience, 62% holding graduate degrees, and a large share holding SPED or ELL certification and identifying as people of color; all teachers are rigorously vetted and monitored, and the program reports a 100% teacher attendance rate with consistent teachers every session.
School districts and charter schools across the country partner with Tutored by Teachers to provide outcomes-focused virtual instruction, and the Michigan Association of Intermediate School Administrators has vetted the program and listed it on their website. In Fall 2023, Tutored by Teachers served more than 1,600 Indianapolis Public Schools Emerging Schools students for one semester with 12 hours of instruction. Tutored by Teachers is a selected vendor for the MI Kids Back on Track grant, exceeds the Michigan Department of Education criteria for grant funding, and its programs are eligible for Learning Recovery Act, CARES Act, Title I, and Title III funding.
Testimonials from school staff describe changes in NWEA scores in grades receiving Tutored by Teachers tutoring, alignment and communication with school teams, and the role of the program’s model and teacher network for students who were falling behind and needed additional support. Other school leaders report that the program reduces some workload for their teachers and that students are highly invested in the program.
