• Ages: 2–18 years old

Teaching artists at Missy's Movement have qualifications and extensive experience in dance and education. The program’s mission is to provide comprehensive dance education in a warm, welcoming, and inclusive environment where individuals of all backgrounds and skill levels can thrive together. It is described as a warm and inclusive dance family with a noncompetitive, uplifting atmosphere and a welcoming, inclusive, and noncompetitive setting for children. Classes are described as balancing structure and guidance with a positive environment, cultivating a nurturing environment, and focusing on healing through movement and fostering emotional well-being. The program emphasizes a diverse and vibrant range of dance styles, a focus on fostering a love for the arts, and encouraging self-expression while providing a safe space for artistic potential. It is described as prioritizing building strong connections and fostering friendships among students, with supportive and encouraging instruction tailored to meet the unique needs of each child and an emphasis on building confidence and self-esteem. The program follows a “come as you are” approach that allows participation without the initial expense of dance gear, and during the pandemic, classes were moved outdoors so children could safely continue. Annual recitals and community events allow dancers to showcase their skills, and camps, parties, and community events are described as exciting and incredibly fun filled. In a testimonial, Sarah from Quincy, a mother of two, states that Melissa is true to her word that dance is for everyone, highlights the “come as you are approach” for all ages, colors, and personalities, and notes the adaptability and dedication shown when classes were moved outdoors during the pandemic.
