About
Terrapin Music Camp is a week-long band, orchestra, and choir camp that includes large ensemble rehearsals for band, orchestra, and choir musicians. Campers take part in small group lessons, sectionals, and elective music classes. The program also features daily performances by university faculty and professional musicians, and it concludes with a culminating performance at The Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center.

• Schedule: Week-long sessions, Monday–Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:15 p.m.
Terrapin Music Camp was founded in 2003. Small group lessons and sectionals are taught by outstanding K–12 faculty from the University of Maryland School of Music and throughout the state of Maryland. The camp is led by Camp Director Michael Hewitt, Professor of Music Education, Instrumental Music Education, and Assistant Director Stephanie Prichard, Associate Professor and Division Coordinator, Music Education, Instrumental Music Education. Vocalists at any level and instrumentalists with at least one year of experience are eligible to join. The camp is designed to provide participants with heightened musical experiences to enhance school and/or private instruction, develop musicianship and advance instrumental and vocal technique through ensemble and solo performance, offer elective classes that promote awareness of multiple methods for expressing music, and bring together students from throughout the Baltimore/Washington metropolitan area to share a unique musical experience.
