About
Howard County Recreation & Parks Youth Programs and Camps offers a range of youth programs and camps. Only individuals who are registered may participate in these programs and camps. A parent or legal guardian must accompany a child each day for both check-in and pick-up and is responsible for signing the child in at the beginning of the program and signing the child out immediately following the program.
• Ages: 0–18 years old
• Price: Program fees are established by determining the cost of supplies; fees for instructors, rentals, registrations and program administration; and the price of marketing in order to deliver high quality programs at an affordable price.
For many programs, registrants or parents or legal guardians of minor registrants are required to provide a signed Participant Information form at the first meeting, and many programs require confirmation that immunizations are current. A parent or legal guardian must sign a waiver for anyone age 18 and under. Staff does not change diapers. The Howard County Department of Recreation & Parks can provide limited financial assistance to Howard County residents who qualify. Individuals with disabilities are encouraged to register for general recreation programs, interpretive services are available for people who are deaf, hard of hearing or have speech disabilities, and accommodations can be provided to Howard County residents at no additional cost. Programs by age include options for children from birth through age 18, as well as camps for ages 2–18 years old. The Department of Recreation & Parks is a recognized leader in opportunities for individuals with disabilities. At Howard County Recreation & Parks, the mission is to encourage residents to get up, get out, and get active. The program reserves the right to cancel or postpone any program or activity due to inclement weather or low enrollment.
