Bar-T Kids Club and Summer Camps states a mission of providing after-school childcare, summer day camps, outdoor education, corporate team building, and events, and offering school year programs and summer day camps that fuel children’s emerging interests and talents within a safe and nurturing community, with a stated positive impact on generations of Maryland families over 50 years. Staff roles have defined requirements: School-Age Teachers must be at least 19 years old with specific childcare training and 400 hours of experience, Directors and Assistant Directors must be at least 19 years old with additional director training and 800 hours of experience, Aides must be at least 16 years old, Junior and Senior Counselors must be at least 16 years old, JLIT applicants must be 14 years old by June 5th, LIT applicants must be 15 years old by June 5th and have completed one full summer as a JLIT, and lifeguards must be at least 16 years old with certification. The organization notes a Director Career Track with a transparent salary band and growth opportunities, and certain director roles are benefit-eligible for healthcare, vision, dental, and an employee assistance program, with substitute positions assigned on an as-needed basis and hired from the substitute list first depending on program needs and availability. Required summer camp trainings are scheduled on Friday, May 30th from 7:00pm–9:00pm, Saturday, May 31st from 8:00am–5:00pm, and Saturday, June 7th from 8:00am–5:00pm.
Parent and participant feedback includes comments describing an inclusive environment and positive impressions of staff at Kids Camp, long-term memories made at Bar-T over 10 years, appreciation for the camp and before- and after-school programs and staff from owners to junior counselors, and praise for management and counselors at camp. Other testimonials mention staff at Mountainside making kids’ summer “over the top fun” and safe, the convenience of having childcare in the same school as children’s classes with engaging activities after the school day, and daily stimulating and enriching activities that have made one family’s son excited about the learning process.
