Directors and Assistant Directors must be at least 19 years old, have proof of completion of a 45 Hour Growth & Development Course, a 45 Hour School Age Methods and Materials Course, Center Director Regulation Training, and 800 hours of childcare experience. All summer camp teams are required to participate in trainings on Friday, June 5th (7:00pm–9:00pm), Saturday, June 6th (8:00am–5:00pm), and Saturday, June 13th (8:00am–5:00pm), and Bar-T substitutes spend 1–2 weeks in training at a specific Bar-T training center. Bar-T bus transportation is available for JLITs to both Mountainside and Ranch.

JLIT programs run at all Bar-T camp locations including Mountainside, Ranch, and Kids Camps in the Germantown, Silver Spring, and Gaithersburg areas. JLITs must commit to work for at least 4 weeks in the summer from June through August. Returning Bar-T Summer Staff, JLIT, LIT, Junior Counselor, and Senior Counselor roles have weekday hours of 8:30am–3:30pm from June through August, and Kids Club aides and School-Age Teachers work weekday mornings and afternoons within the stated Kids Club hours.
