About
Lutherville Music School offers private music lessons, a band program, and summer camps, including Rock Band Camps. Students can participate in weekly coached rehearsals, perform live in concert, and take part in recording opportunities under the theme “Perform - Record - Jam.” The program also includes live performances at BC Brewery, an outdoor show on school grounds, open mic nights, festivals, student council activities, and album-cover style photo shoots.

Lutherville Music School states that its mission is to create customized experiences for each unique learner while having fun doing it and focuses on the process, not the product, in a pressure-free, community-oriented environment where students select their own songs and make their own musical decisions. The school offers month-to-month lessons with no semester minimums or long-term contract required and provides instruction on guitar, bass guitar, drums, piano, keyboard, flute, saxophone, clarinet, banjo, mandolin, ukulele, voice, and strings (cello, viola, violin, upright bass). Teachers at Lutherville Music School have professional music experience, implement research-based practices, and most are actively involved in the Baltimore music scene.
The school features a recently renovated space with a brand new stage, a revamped recording studio, modern practice rooms, and a more robust recording system, and it hosts fun, free live performances throughout the year. An active student council plans seasonal events, open mic nights, and festivals, and the school maintains a wall of fame for student bands that have been together for three or more years, gives annual awards for dedication and/or improvement, and highlights a student of the month in its newsletter. Lutherville Music School gives back to the community by participating in and performing at local events such as fundraisers, art shows, and a 4th of July fireworks celebration.
Lutherville Music School has been recognized in 2024 by The Baltimore Sun’s “Reader's Choice Award for Best Music Lessons” and by Macaroni Kid for “the most loved music lessons.” The school reports a proven track record of offering quality music and voice lessons and coaching student rock bands and has served close to 2,000 students over the past 13 years.
