The Del-Mar-Va Council was established in 1917. Scouting programs include Cub Scouting for boys and girls 5–10 years old, Scouts BSA for boys and girls ages 11 through 17, and Venturing for young men and women ages 14 (who have completed the eighth grade) through 20. Del-Mar-Va Council Day Camps are open to boys and girls in 1st–5th grade and are open to non-Scouts. Rodney Scout Reservation Summer Camp is described as “The only Scout camp on the Chesapeake Bay.” The Del-Mar-Va Council serves over 3,600 families throughout the peninsula with 20 full-time staff and more than 2,000 registered volunteers, and it serves over 200 units and 2,000 volunteers who are delivering the promise of Scouting to over 3,600 young men and women. The Council covers fourteen counties and is divided into four Scouting districts, and Scouting works through neighborhoods, volunteer organizations, and faith-based organizations to help young people appreciate and respond to the needs of others. The mission of Scouting America is to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law.
