Kids Adventures at Takoma Park Elementary School offers daily activities such as Spanish, chess, yoga, soccer, swimming, fashion club, cooking club, theater, dancing, arts and crafts, group games, homework time, free play art, board games, playground time, gym time, and reading. Kids Adventures at Takoma Park (KATP) is open on all MCPS professional and early release days and is open on most holidays and school breaks. The program follows the MCPS administrative offices’ emergency closing schedule and remains open on many snow days at no additional cost. Light breakfast is provided from 7:30 AM to 8:30 AM for early arrivals, and an afternoon snack is served. Fresh fruits or vegetables are served daily and at least four times a week are integrated into meals or snacks, snacks are low in sodium and fat and made with whole wheat or whole grains with no added sugar, all cheese served is made with whole milk, 1% white cow milk is served at every snack and breakfast, sugary drinks are not offered, and water is always available.

Kids Adventures features a variety of enrichment programs, including Spanish, chess, yoga, soccer, swimming, and more provided by specialists at no extra cost to families. After-school clubs change monthly and are student-driven, with children encouraged to share ideas for new clubs. The program includes clubs, activities, projects, field trips, and other choices for school-age children, and children actively participate in planning and running the school-age program. Family engagement opportunities include parent meetings, holiday potlucks, end-of-year celebrations, and club events and performances.

Kids Adventures has been making memories since 1997 and was founded by Brian Rindos, who dedicated more than 30 years to serving children and families in Montgomery County. The program is described as a community-centered, relationship-driven program shaped by founder Brian Rindos’ vision. Kids Adventures incorporates community-based projects and volunteer opportunities into its programs, and Brian Rindos served on the Montgomery County Interagency Coordinating Board Committee for Excellence in Child Care and supported several pediatric and adolescent health initiatives.

The leadership team for Kids Adventures at Takoma Park Elementary School includes Andrea Green as Site Director and Linda Mitchell as Assistant Director, with Matthew and Tyler serving as aides. Andrea Green graduated from Montgomery College with an Associate of Arts in General Studies and is a part-time student at the University of Maryland University College (UMUC), majoring in Psychology with a minor in Sociology. Linda Mitchell completed three years of undergraduate study, earned the 90 Hour Early Childhood Education certification, holds a Child Development Associated Credential (CDA), and is at a level 4 for the Maryland Childcare Credentialing Program. The broader Kids Adventures leadership also lists Brian Rindos as Founder of Kids Adventures, Andrea Green as Director for the Takoma Park Elementary School school-age site, and Veronica Martin-Carey as Director of Kids Adventures Academy at Takoma Park Elementary School.
