About
Richardson School of Music offers private lessons, virtual lessons, and in-person lessons. The program is open to children, teens, and adults who want instruction in music performance and appreciation.
• Ages: 0–18 years old
• Schedule: Teaching hours available Monday–Sunday, 8:00am–10:00pm
Most of the private instructors have at least a B.A. degree in their field, and many hold advanced degrees, while most student teachers are currently in school earning their music degrees. The school states that it is dedicated to educating and instructing children, teens, and adults in the performance and appreciation of music, and that it will provide qualified teachers who equip students with technical and musical instruction and exposure to master teachers and performers. Richardson School of Music describes its approach as “Music Education for the Body, Mind, and Soul,” and states that it is now open for virtual and in-person lessons for all ages. The school notes that donations are used for instruments and scholarships and that current students can call an emergency line for immediate assistance outside of office hours. The leadership team includes Founder Vincent Richardson and Office Manager Teah England. The school states that it is happy to be part of the Takoma Park community, that it believes music is one of the key elements to joy, intelligence, relieving stress, barrier-breaking, and healing, that it believes in promoting individualism while embracing community and understanding, that it seeks excellence, and that it has some of the best teachers in the DMV.
