The Loft Collective began in 2012 as Little Loft, a Capitol Hill art space for children, expanded to Takoma Park in 2015, and reopened in 2021 as The Loft Collective. In 2025, it expanded again with a second location in Hyattsville, MD, and the Hyattsville studio opened in 2025. The program offers full-day camps for elementary students during the summer and on school days off at both the Takoma Park and Hyattsville locations, with camps open to rising kindergartners through rising 5th graders and a two week max enrollment for summer camp. Summer camp enrollment is refundable until April 1 except for a nonrefundable $35, and after April 1 there are no summer camp refunds. Registration for sessions opens Friday, January 23rd at 12 noon, and the Winter Session runs January 4 to February 21 with no class on Presidents Day weekend.

The Loft Collective’s mission is to provide a creative sanctuary for children and families; a space to foster connection and promote personal growth through art. It is described as a creative sanctuary where art, nature, and literature nurture children while empowering families to engage in community life, and its after school program is described as a safe, creative space where children can wind down after the school day, explore art, and develop friendships. Optional bus pick-up is available for Hyattsville Elementary students for after school classes.

The leadership team includes Founder and Executive Director Lia Salza, Creative Director Meg Ryan, Program Manager Martina Loncar, Aftercare Coordinator for 3rd–5th grade Carolyn Dodenhoff, and Program Manager at the Hyattsville location Ciarra Walters. Lia has a BA from Wesleyan University in American Studies and an Ed.M. from Harvard University in Mind, Brain and Education. Meg has a BFA in Fine Arts from MSU. Martina earned her BA from Colgate University in Studio Art and Educational Studies and her MFA in Studio Art from the American University in Washington, DC. Carolyn graduated from the University of Denver with a BA and MA in Art History and Museum Studies. Ciarra received her MFA in Photography, Media & Society from the Maryland Institute College of Art.

The Loft Collective has been featured in Voyage Baltimore Magazine under Hidden Gems. Voyage Baltimore highlighted their work to build community, create safe spaces, and weave a stronger social fabric during a fractured time in the country.
