Ann Arbor Children’s House offers a full Montessori environment with morning and extended-day programs, optional early drop-off, and lunch. Extended-day students have weekly half-hour classes in music and Spanish. Children also take occasional afternoon field trips to Ann Arbor’s cultural resources, and the classroom hosts special visitors such as local musicians, animal specialists, and people knowledgeable about diverse cultures.

Ann Arbor Children’s House offers children ages birth through 6 a Montessori environment where they can grow to their own unique potential, following the pedagogical model put forth by Dr. Maria Montessori. The program emphasizes family relationships, small class size, individualized learning, and a mixed-age class. It includes a mixed-age class where children ages three to six work and learn together, with at least an eight-to-one child/teacher ratio at all times. The staff includes two traditionally trained Montessori teachers and two highly skilled classroom assistants who interact with 25 children. Ann Arbor Children’s House is a member of the Michigan Montessori Society.
Ann Arbor Children’s House opened with 12 students in the fall of 2011. The program includes occasional afternoon field trips to Ann Arbor’s museums, parks, libraries, local businesses, and events. One parent shared that they were grateful for the work, dedication, and love invested in the school and described it as a very special environment for their child over three years.
