Community Day Care offers open-choice play, outside time, and fun, play-based activities. Children take part in exploration and creative activities as part of the program’s daily routine.

Community Day Care is a non-profit organization that offers high-quality preschool, summer camp, and before- and after-school programs for kids ages 2 to 12. The program includes a choice-based preschool with full- and half-day options and a play-based learning environment with brightly lit classrooms and time playing in the forest. Community Day Care provides Kids’ Club before- and after-school programs at two Ann Arbor Public Schools and serves more than 450 families every year. Since 2015, the organization has given over $1.2 million to the community for family support and has served over 22,000 children in total.
Community Day Care hires qualified educators who are trained in early education and development, and staff are described as experts in what they do. Staff members’ own children may attend Community Day Care at no cost, with conditions that apply. The preschool is NAEYC accredited. The leadership team includes an Executive Director, Development Director, Director of Curriculum and Training, Office Manager/Bookkeeper, DEI Coordinator, and Director of School Age Programs.
Community Day Care was founded in 1972 and has been serving the community for over 50 years. Its mission states that it is committed to providing high-quality childcare and early childhood education, strengthening the community by empowering educators and supporting family access to equitable, child-centered care. The mission also states that the organization is dedicated to creating inclusive environments where everyone in the community knows they are valued and can thrive. Enrollment is described as diverse and inclusive, with priority for families who have historically been excluded from access to high quality child care programs, including families of color, families with low incomes, and single-caregiver families, and tuition assistance is available to families with low incomes.
Community Day Care states that it actively engages with local organizations, parents, and caregivers through a collaborative approach that focuses on the well-being of young people and on creating safe, supportive spaces where kids can play, explore, learn, and grow.

Another parent, Nieri, shared that their child has attended preschool at Community Day Care for multiple years and described small class sizes, personalized attention, and a community of engaged and caring teachers, staff, and families.
