About
Sing With Me Music & Movement Curriculum includes singing, dancing, and other music and movement activities presented in short segments using only Gari Stein’s slowly paced voice with purposeful pauses. The program offers interactive concerts for families and can be used during parent-child enrichment, home visits, community events, and birthday celebrations. Materials are based in traditional folk music, include over 200 musical activities, 300 minutes of audio, and 72 minutes of visual reinforcement, and can be adapted for use in classrooms, daycare, and K–2nd grade settings, including many infant activities.

Sing With Me Music & Movement Curriculum is a unique research-based music and movement curriculum that is designed to help meet the criteria for developmentally appropriate activities specific to early childhood music, with materials, methods, and philosophies gathered from experts in music education for early childhood. The curriculum is presented as more than just lesson plans and addresses the adult’s comfort level by providing support, information, direction, demonstration, instruction, and guidance, and can be used at home or for travel, during transitions, circle time, in therapeutic settings, and in teacher trainings, workshops, and in-service trainings.
The program developer, Gari Stein, is the founder and director of Music for Little Folks in Ann Arbor, Michigan, the author of “The More We Get Together,” and the developer of Sing With Me and the How to Sing and Dance series. She holds a degree in Psychology/Child Development and Dance, has over 30 years of experience in the field of early childhood education, and has been singing and dancing with young children and their families since 1966. Her stated mission is to include more singing and dancing in early childhood programs and to equip teachers with appropriate materials and support to implement them.
Sing With Me Music & Movement Curriculum is taken into local daycare homes, centers, preschools, and K–2nd grade classrooms, and is associated with Ann Arbor Symphony KinderConcerts. Gari Stein presents staff development, workshops, and in-service trainings throughout the country at state conferences including AEYC, Early On, Great Start, Head Start, Infant Mental Health, Family Day Care, NAEYC, Young Author's Conference, Michigan Library, and Michigan Reading Association. She belongs to national, state, and local Associations for the Education of Young Children and is a member of The Music Educators and Early Childhood Music Associations, The Gordon Institute for Music Learning, Orff and Kodaly, The Michigan Library and Reading Associations, and The American Library, International Reading and Infant Mental Health Associations.
Reviews of Gari Stein’s book and related materials describe clear instructions for artistic activities, many book, music, and website references, and an accompanying CD that includes calming music selections and prompts for audience participation such as “Let’s make some soup!
