Gari Stein leads Sing With Me Music & Movement Curriculum and is the founder and director of Music for Little Folks. She has a degree in Psychology/Child Development and Dance and has over 30 years of experience in Early Childhood Education. She has been singing and dancing with young children and their families since 1966 and is the author of “The More We Get Together” and the developer of Sing With Me and the How to Sing and Dance series.

The curriculum is a research-based music and movement program based in traditional folk music and includes over 200 musical activities, 300 minutes of audio, and 72 minutes of visual reinforcement. It is presented in short segments in Gari’s voice, with a slow pace and purposeful pauses to create silence. The songs and activities use old tunes in new ways, are described as fun and easy to learn, and are intended to keep children moving. Materials can be adapted for K–2nd grade and include many infant activities, and can be used at home or for travel, in classrooms and daycare, during transitions, circle time, home visits, parent-child enrichment, community events, in therapeutic settings, and at birthday celebrations.

The program addresses the adult’s comfort level with music and movement and provides support, information, direction, demonstration, instruction, and guidance. Its materials, methods, and philosophies were gathered from experts in Music Education for Early Childhood and are described as being full of materials that are good for children. The stated mission is to include more singing and dancing in early childhood programs and to equip teachers with appropriate materials and support to implement them.

Gari Stein is a member of national, state, and local Associations for the Education of Young Children, The Music Educators and Early Childhood Music Associations, The Gordon Institute for Music Learning, Orff and Kodaly organizations, The Michigan Library and Reading Associations, The American Library Association, International Reading Association, and Infant Mental Health Associations. Community involvement includes KinderConcerts with the Ann Arbor Symphony, interactive community concerts, and presentations at state conferences such as AEYC, Early On, Great Start, Head Start, Infant Mental Health, Family Day Care, NAEYC, Young Author's Conference, Michigan Library Association, and Michigan Reading Association, as well as bringing the program into local daycare homes, centers, preschools, and K–2nd grade classrooms and contributing to the Michigan Reads! Guide.

The More We Get Together book by Gari Stein includes over 300 resources and activities, photographs, 145 pages, and a free Travel CD with 53 songs for children from tots to age 8. Reviews describe the book and CD as user friendly, accessible, informative, and focused on nurturing relationships through music, play, books, and art, with clear instructions for artistic activities and many references to books, music, and websites. Reviewers also note the inclusion of a Travel CD, the variety and richness of the Sing With Me kits, the integration of music and education, and the presence of live classical music and creative movement ideas in KinderConcerts.
