About
Bemidji Town & Country Club Junior Golf Programs offer golf instruction and play through the First Swing Program, the Junior 8-10 Golf Program, and the Junior 11-14 Golf Program. Participants take part in practice sessions and on-course play as part of these junior golf programs.
• Ages: 5–14 years old
• Schedule: First Swing Program (ages 5–7) runs Mondays from June 8 to July 13, 2026, from 10:00am to 11:00am; Junior 8-10 Golf Program (ages 8–10) runs Mondays and Tuesdays from June 8 to July 14, 2026, with Monday sessions from 8:30am to 9:45am and Tuesday sessions from 8:45am to 10:00am; Junior 11-14 Golf Program (ages 11–14) runs Mondays and Tuesdays from June 8 to July 14, 2026, with both days from 7:15am to 8:30am.
• Price: First Swing Program ages 5–7 is $100 per student; Junior 8-10 Golf Program ages 8–10 costs $150 for members and $175 for non-members; Junior 11-14 Golf Program ages 11–14 costs $150 for members and $175 for non-members.
The junior programs are led by PGA Golf Professionals and are described as tailored for both beginners and advanced youth golfers, with age-appropriate instruction and practice. The First Swing Program introduces golf through weekly contests, prizes, and varied play formats, and it has a 40-player limit with 5 participants per instructor. The Junior 8-10 Golf Program and Junior 11-14 Golf Program each have a 40-player limit with 6 participants per instructor, and additional individual or group junior instruction is available upon request.
Bemidji Town & Country Club was established in 1916 and is an 18-hole, semi-private, member-owned golf course that is open to the public with membership benefits. It is home to the Birchmont Golf Tournament every July and the Vandersluis International Golf Tournament on Labor Day weekend, and in 2016 it hosted the Minnesota PGA Professional Championship. The course is associated with the prestigious Birchmont Tournament, Minnesota MGA events, collegiate tournaments, and events by the Minnesota State High School League and the Minnesota Golf Association, and it regularly hosts fundraising events.
A historical testimonial from professional golfer Walter Hagen described the course as naturally beautiful, well maintained, and in a setting he considered hard to equal, and he expressed appreciation for both the original and newer holes after an exhibition match.
