About
Camps at The Works Museum include hands-on activities where kids explore engineering, science, technology, and math. Campers take part in interactive experiences and design challenges, such as building with K’Nex, testing out a giant kaleidoscope, and designing sturdy structures. The program is part of a larger set of offerings that also includes field trips, family programs, birthday parties, workshops, school break camps, summer camps, and special activity days.
• Ages: 5–12 years old
• Schedule: Camps are offered alongside school break camps, summer camps, and special activity days throughout the year.
• Price: Admission: Adults and children (ages 2 and up): $14 per person. Museum members: Free with digital member card and photo ID. Children under 2: Free.
The mission of Camps at The Works Museum is to inspire the next generation of innovators, engineers, and creative problem solvers. The program takes place in a hands-on engineering and design museum for kids and their grown-ups, with an open floor plan and all exhibits, classrooms, and restrooms on one level. Sensory-friendly kits are available for check-out at the front desk, and each kit includes visual timers, headphones, fidgets, gloves, and sunglasses. STEM camps at The Works Museum are described as ideal for children ages 5–12 who love to explore, discover, design, and build, and expert educators encourage exploration and work with each child to make their experience engaging and fun.
The Works Museum engages in outreach with programs brought to the community and works to increase STEM equity across Minnesota’s diverse communities. One camp parent notes that the instructors are “great” and that “you can tell they enjoy what they teach our kid and that they are truly interested in getting to know him as a person.” A visitor describes The Works Museum as a space that provides hands-on STEM learning in a free-play setting.
