Wilderness Inquiry Outdoor Adventures and Programs offers outdoor adventures and programs that connect people deeper to the natural world. The organization is a nonprofit committed to making the outdoors accessible to all and is a leading organization in outdoor travel. Its nature-based programs build confidence, connection, and tangible skills, and it is committed to providing welcoming outdoor adventures and educational programs for all people.

Since 1978, Wilderness Inquiry has sought to serve people from all walks of life. The organization seeks to serve individuals with disabilities, youth from racially, ethnically, and resource-diverse backgrounds, and others who face barriers to the use and enjoyment of public lands and waters. Its Apostle Islands Base Camp is open seasonally from April through September. Partners power its work through collaborative programming and advancing shared goals.
One participant described watching the sunset in the dunes together as “pretty magical.” A Canoemobile participant in Santa Barbara shared that a memorable moment was seeing seals and canoeing under a big boat, and noted that Wilderness Inquiry leaders made sure everyone was safe and had a fun time. A 2025 participant in the Boundary Waters Lodge-Based Adventure said the experience grounded them in being present, patient, and focused on the needs of others.
