Code Explorers is the new name for CoderDojo Twin Cities (CoderDojo TC), a free youth coding program run by Code Savvy in Minnesota, and it continues the welcoming, hands-on Saturday coding sessions that CoderDojo Twin Cities families know. Students can attend sessions that fit their schedule with no requirement to attend every session, and they are welcome to drop in and learn at their own pace. Code Savvy’s mission is to interrupt and counteract existing gender, racial, and socioeconomic gaps in computing by equipping youth and educators with the knowledge, skills, and support to create with technology, and Code Savvy’s focus is the development of inclusive opportunities in computer science. Code Explorers builds on the community originally created through CoderDojo Twin Cities and continues to provide free opportunities for students to learn programming, explore technology, and build creative projects. During the Technovation season, Technovation Girls Minnesota teams are welcome to attend Code Explorers sessions to work on their apps, troubleshoot technical challenges, and get guidance from experienced mentors.

For in-person sessions, wired headphones and a USB flash drive are helpful but not required, and a flash drive can make it easier for students working with Python or other tools to save projects to take home. Students planning to try Scratch can create a free Scratch account at scratch.mit.edu ahead of time and should know their username and password so they can log in during the session. CoderDojo Twin Cities was co-founded by Rebecca Schatz and Matt Gray.
