• Schedule: Weekly 30 minute lessons with class options Monday–Saturday
Instructors at Salem Swim School are described as compassionate and experienced, and they are trained in recognizing different signs of readiness for each skill. The program uses a Lesson Station of the Week process with 4–6 lesson stations, and students are evaluated at minimum every 4–6 weeks. Safety and basic swimming skills are taught through songs, fun activities, and repetition, and the foundation for water safety is based on parental involvement. Classes are rolling admission and on a month basis.
The stated goal of Salem Swim School is to cultivate confident and successful swimmers in a positive and safe environment, and the program states that every child should learn how to be safe and skilled in and around water. The program states that it views teaching children a skill that can save their life as an honor and privilege, and that its goal is to keep building each week with simple steps that lead to long term success.
Parent feedback mentions that instructors and staff are helpful, patient, attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable, and that communication with the owner is accommodating. Several parents describe their children progressing from being hesitant in the water to putting their heads under, floating unassisted, and showing new skills, and one parent notes that classes use fun games and songs to teach foundational skills. Multiple parents state that their children enjoy their class time and love their swim classes, and several say they recommend Salem Swim School or plan to continue lessons there.
