Music Saved My Life programming and philosophy has served under-resourced children in the Asbury Park area since 2014, and Asbury Park Music Foundation funds scholarships to its educational partner facility, Lakehouse Music Academy. In the last several years, Asbury Park Music Foundation has put more than 250 instruments in the hands of kids and created the Hip Hop Institute at the Boys and Girls Club. In 2019, Asbury Park Music Foundation was awarded a $110,000 grant from Impact 100 Jersey Coast to fund the Music Business & Technology program, which teaches kids the business side of music and uses technology to create programming that will offer vocational opportunities in the future. All of the programs Asbury Park Music Foundation funds provide children with life-changing skills, opportunities for collaboration in bands, empowerment through education, and engaging in positive experiences.

Asbury Park Music Foundation offers a variety of free summer concert series, including Music Mondays in Springwood Park, Asbury Park Live! at the 1st Avenue Green on the Boardwalk, and Asbury Park Concert Band shows. Asbury Park Live! is a 10-week series on Wednesday nights, and Lakehouse Music Academy bands featuring Asbury Park Music Foundation scholarship students open for local musicians and bands each week at Asbury Park Live!. The Asbury Park Concert Band has been entertaining crowds of all ages since 1945, and attendees of Asbury Park Live! are instructed to bring their own lawn chair. Music Mondays in Springwood Park celebrates the diversity of the city by bringing music from the past and present together.

The mission of Asbury Park Music Foundation is to keep the Asbury Park music legacy alive by providing under-served youth with life-changing music education, helping the local music scene thrive, and uniting a diverse community through music. The youth programs are supported by donors and by hosting live music events that unite diverse members of the community while also supporting local musicians with paying gigs and exposure on Asbury Park Music Foundation stages. The three free summer concert series bring communities together through music while raising funds through sponsorships and donations, and thousands of residents and visitors attend live music each summer in Springwood Park, Bradley Park, and on the Boardwalk. In 2018, Asbury Park Music Foundation brought back an annual holiday show that raised money for the foundation as well as local charities including Boys & Girls Club of Monmouth County, AP Toy Drive, Mercy Center, and Jewish Family and Children’s Services.

Asbury Park Music Foundation has been recognized by the City of Asbury Park with a Proclamation. In 2019, it was the first recipient of the Asbury Park Chamber of Commerce’s Non-Profit of the Year at the annual Carousel Awards, and in 2021 it received the Spinnaker Award for Arts and Culture from the Eastern Monmouth Chamber of Commerce. In 2011, the Asbury Park Musical Heritage Foundation was launched, and in 2014 it was renamed the Asbury Park Music Foundation.
