Lakehouse Music Academy, 619 Lake Avenue, Asbury Park, NJ 07712
About
Lakehouse Music Academy offers individual lessons and group rehearsals that include music theory in one-on-one private study, original songwriting, recording, production, and engineering. Students take part in live performances with their band, including live performances at world-famous music venues, and can also learn about business and marketing related to music. The program uses teaching methods built around each student’s particular musical interests and goals and is committed to the development of comprehensive musicianship for every student, at every level, at every age, with music education designed to meet individual needs.
• Ages: 3–18 years old
• Schedule: Class and lesson options are available Monday–Thursday afternoons and evenings, Friday midday to evening, and Saturday–Sunday during the day.
Lakehouse Music Academy describes itself as a progressive music school with a holistic approach to music education that can introduce the power of music to young children, inspire adults to join the band and take the stage, and produce prepared teenage musicians for today’s music industry. Its mission is to engage and enrich students’ lives through access to complete, life-long music education. LhMA alumni are pursuing music at programs including Berklee College of Music, NYU’s Clive Davis Institute of Recorded Music, Columbia University, University of Miami’s Frost School of Music, and Princeton University. The academy is housed in the Lakehouse Music Building under the same roof as two world-class recording studios, a retail music store, rehearsal rooms, and many notable music industry professionals.
Parent and student testimonials describe experiences such as a child returning home fulfilled, happy, and peaceful after “Lakehouse Nights,” students being pushed to sing on stage and blossoming from timid performers to playing as well as professional musicians, and an adult program that fits around family and job commitments. One parent notes that private piano lessons led to their child learning to read music notes, learning rhythms, and playing a few songs after a few months, and another testimonial says that from the first lesson students are part of a band, learning together, and playing on the same stages as their favorite bands.
