The Neighborhood Center Youth Programs take place at The Neighborhood Center, which is envisioned as a “community living room” where children and teens come after school to study and take part in theater, music, and dancing. Preschoolers in the program learn about themselves and others through games, play, art, and songs while teachers lead them toward literacy and school success. Athletics and healthy lifestyles are valued and practiced as part of the youth experience at the center.
• Schedule: 7:30am-6pm (M-F)
With 112 years of service to the community, The Neighborhood Center focuses on a two-generation approach to lifting families out of poverty. Its mission is to generously love neighbors as themselves with abundant service and hope every day, with a commitment to providing a safe space for academic achievement, athletic accomplishment, and a flourishing arts program. The center includes a community kitchen, store, and pantry that serve as cultural bridges where individuals and families gather, and it supports neighborhood watches, civic associations, cooking and gardening groups, walking groups, and sports teams as part of a well-developed social infrastructure.
