About

Children and Youth Programs at Christ Church Short Hills include Sunday Church School, Sunday School, nursery child care, storytelling, and play. Children take part in learning the books of the Bible, programs on faithful giving, and participating in worship by delivering the offering to the altar at The Presentation. The program also includes an annual Christmas pageant where children take on the roles of biblical characters to lead worship, as well as Cub Scout Pack 1 and Boy Scout Pack 15.

• Ages: 0–11 years old
• Schedule: Sunday Church School for infants through 5th grade meets every Sunday at 9:45, with child care for ages 0–3 from 9:45am to 11:30am, and Sunday School for preschoolers through 5th grade during the 10:00am Ministry of the Word

Children and Youth Programs at Christ Church Short Hills state that early learners are taught using storytelling and play to develop a liturgical language of faith and an understanding of God’s intimate presence in their lives. Older children walk through the life of Christ using the scriptures in the lectionary, and weekly lessons correspond with texts used in worship so that children and parents can review together what was learned in church. The program states that all children will be learning the books of the Bible throughout the coming year and that all children are welcome to participate in the Christmas pageant on the fourth Sunday of Advent. The mission statement says that the church believes children develop life-long habits of worship and service at the youngest ages, desires each child to have a deep relationship with God from birth, and offers programs for children and teens that are designed to help young and growing Christians embrace the language of faith. The church identifies with the Anglican Communion, the Episcopal Church in the USA, and the Episcopal Diocese of Newark.
