The Community Swim and Fitness mission states: “Our mission is to provide engaging and developmentally appropriate swim instruction that builds confidence, strengthens foundational skills, and fosters a lifelong comfort in the water.” The broader school, Berkeley Carroll, was founded in 1886 and is described as one of New York City’s oldest college preparatory schools, evolving from the original Berkeley Institute. Berkeley Carroll states that it attracts families from across New York City and New Jersey, and the Bongsoon Zubay Athletic Center welcomes members of the community for recreational use during early mornings, evenings, and weekends from September through July. The Communications Office is led by Director of Strategic Communications Joanna Rodriguez Dugan, who oversees media and external relations for the school.
