About

Oasis Day Camp – Brooklyn Park Slope offers a full camp day that includes field games, arts and crafts, theme days, local excursions, sports and games, swimming, swim lessons, dance, cooking classes, theatre performances, adventures in nature, and recreational excursions. Campers take part in activities such as playground time, backyard games, board games, music and dance, STEM projects, and sports including baseball, flag football, soccer, and basketball. The program also includes museum visits, trips, sports and group activities on Long Meadow and other open green spaces, walking paths, wooded nature trails, and both indoor pool time and swim lessons and pool time at a nearby pool, with additional excursions for teens.

• Ages: 3–15 years old
• Schedule: Core camp day from 9:00am to 4:30pm, with extended hours available from 8:00am to 6:00pm

The program includes Early Start Imagination Camps for pre-K through kindergarten, Day Camps for campers entering grades 1–6, Teen Travel Camps for campers entering grades 5–10, and a Counselor-in-Training (CIT) program for campers entering grades 10 and 11. Early Start campers have pool time twice a week, while lower and upper campers have swim sessions three times a week. All campers receive five Oasis t-shirts and an Oasis backpack as part of camp tuition, and tuition also includes extended hours, healthy food with hot lunch and daily snacks, swim lessons, and camp gear.

Staff members undergo comprehensive pool safety, water safety, first aid, and CPR training, and every location has either an EMT or registered nurse onsite. Leaders and staff are education and youth development professionals, many with decades of experience as tenured teachers, administrators, or specialized support professionals, and all staff are background checked, continually trained, and vetted. Swim lessons are taught by certified instructors, senior staff members are always present, and the program uses designated camp spaces restricted from the public, rigorous check-in and check-out procedures, strict walking protocols, an inclement weather plan, and regular hydration and shade breaks. The camp is described as having exceptionally low camper-to-staff ratios and is designed with small groups and a calm, well-paced camp day.

The leadership team includes Jennifer Sanon, Head of Community at Oasis Day Camp, who has more than 15 years of experience working with children and families and has held roles including Group Counselor, Art Instructor, Division Leader, Program Director, and Operations Director; during the school year, she serves as an intermediate mathematics teacher and Special Education representative. Since 2000, Oasis Day Camps have operated in the metropolitan New York City area, beginning with a single Central Park location serving 50 campers and now running multiple locations that together welcome over 1,000 campers each year. The mission of Oasis Day Camps is to help campers grow in three pillars: Self (celebrating individuality and building confidence), Others (cultivating respect, empathy, and collaboration), and World (engaging with local and global communities).

Oasis partners with New York Department of Transportation–licensed bus companies, and transportation is supervised by Oasis staff on these buses. The program notes that weather is never a concern due to reserved indoor facilities, and it operates with an inclement weather plan in place. Oasis describes its camps as allergy-friendly with nut-free snacks, and as serving campers as young as 3–5 years old through high school with travel camps and CIT programs from multiple nearby Brooklyn neighborhoods.
