About
BAX Youth Education Programs include activities in dance, drama, tumbling, drag, creative movement, performing arts, visual arts, and mixed media arts. Young people also take part in lip syncing, costume design, character work, and dramatic play as part of these programs.

• Schedule: Spring 2026 Youth Studio Classes run February 2–June 20, with additional programs during Midwinter Break, Spring Break, and in July 2026

BAX | Brooklyn Arts Exchange, founded in 1991, is a multigenerational arts organization that focuses on nurturing creative expression and artistic process through education, residencies, and performance at the intersection of arts and social justice. The organization emphasizes embodied practices such as dance, movement, theater, and multidisciplinary performance, and prioritizes experimentation, process, collaboration, and mentorship. BAX’s youth education programs annually invite over 10,000 students, parents, families, artists, and audiences to engage in shared creative journeys.
The programs include Practice Lab offerings, Tiered Tuition and scholarships for all classes, free trials for all classes, school pick up from select local schools, daily performing and visual arts activities for grades K–5 during school breaks, a Drag Summer Arts Intensive for ages 11–14, and a Summer Arts Program for young artists entering K–5. BAX states values that include accessibility, choice-making, collaboration, community, creativity, equity, exchange, experimentation, performance, radical hospitality, and skill-building, and aims to create a brave space encouraging open, respectful dialogue, even when it is challenging. BAX commits to forging brave spaces by centering artists from historically underrepresented backgrounds and building equity and access across all programs, and holds itself accountable to its diverse communities while continually learning and growing together.
