About

YMCA of Middletown Youth & Family Programs includes Actin’ Up-Drama, where students work on monologues, improv, skits, and short plays. It also offers Advanced Poetry Workshop, Basketball, Girls Basketball for ages 6-13, Basketball League | Coed for middle school boys and girls, Bollywood Groove Dance, Bollywood Groove Family Dance, Canvas Painting, Chess, Clay Play, Arts & Crafts, Color Pencil Art, and Crochet.

Programs

  • Actin’ Up-Drama — Students enhance their acting skills through monologues, improv, skits, and short plays.
  • Advanced Poetry Workshop — Learn elements of writing Spoken Word poetry, performance techniques, and composing a book of poetry.
  • Basketball — Learn and develop skills of the sport through drills for dribbling, shooting, passing, defense, and teamwork.
  • Girls Basketball — 6-13 · Learn and develop skills of the sport through drills in dribbling, shooting, passing, defense, and teamwork.
  • Basketball League | Coed — Middle school boys & girls · Limited to 60 players; 6 balanced teams; regular season games and single-elimination playoffs.
  • Bollywood Groove Dance — Learn expressive movements, upbeat choreography, and cultural dance styles inspired by Indian film and music.
  • Bollywood Groove Family Dance — Sign up a child and bring 2 family members; family Bollywood dance class.
  • Canvas Painting — Paint on a canvas each class and complete at least 7 works to take home during the session.
  • Chess — Games are set up by age and/or skill level.
  • Clay Play, Arts & Crafts — Hands-on clay projects, painting, crafting, and other art activities.
  • Color Pencil Art — Learn techniques such as layering, blending, shading, and more.
  • Crochet — Learn basic techniques using a crochet hook, slip knots, and simple stitches and projects.

About the provider

The mission statement says, “At the Y, there’s a way for all of us to grow stronger, together.” The impact section states 1,350+ kids in Club Kid, 15,000+ youth, teen & adult members, 350+ youth & teens at Saturday evening Beat The Streets, 430+ people attending because of financial assistance, 190+ individuals with disabilities in adaptive aquatics programs, and 60+ youth & teens on the Barracudas Swim team.

Three or more unexcused absences from a FREE program may result in being asked to forfeit the spot. Credits are only issued when withdrawal form class is due to a medical issue. The YMCA may cancel or combine classes at any time. All classes and schedules are subject to change.
