About
The YMCA of Middletown Youth Programs includes Actin’ Up-Drama, Advanced Poetry Workshop, Basketball, Girls Basketball for ages 6-13, Basketball League | Coed for middle school boys and girls, Bollywood Groove Dance, Bollywood Groove Family Dance, Canvas Painting, Chess, Clay Play, Arts & Crafts, Color Pencil Art, and Crochet. Activities include monologues, improv, skits, short plays, spoken word poetry, dramatic performance techniques, dribbling, shooting, passing, defense, teamwork, Indian film and music-inspired dance, painting on canvas, age- and skill-based chess games, clay projects, and basic crochet techniques.
Programs
- Actin’ Up-Drama — Students enhance their acting skills through monologues, improv, skits, and short plays.
- Advanced Poetry Workshop — Learn elements of writing Spoken Word poetry, dramatic performance techniques, and compose your own book of poetry.
- Basketball — Learn and develop skills through drills for dribbling, shooting, passing, defense, and teamwork.
- Girls Basketball — 6-13 · Learn and develop skills through drills in dribbling, shooting, passing, defense, and teamwork.
- Basketball League | Coed — Middle school boys & girls · Limited to 60 players; 6 balanced teams drafted based on skill level; regular season and single-elimination playoffs.
- Bollywood Groove Dance — Learn expressive movements, upbeat choreography, and cultural dance styles inspired by Indian film and music.
- Bollywood Groove Family Dance — Sign up a child and bring 2 family members; family-friendly Bollywood dance class.
- Canvas Painting — Enjoy painting on a canvas and complete at least 7 works to take home throughout the session.
- Chess — Games are set up by age and/or skill level.
- Clay Play, Arts & Crafts — Hands-on clay projects, painting, crafting, and other engaging art activities.
- Color Pencil Art — Create inspirational works of art while learning layering, blending, shading, and more.
- Crochet — Learn basic crochet techniques, slip knots, and simple stitches and projects.

About the provider
The program is described as supporting family wellness, creativity, and development, from sports and fitness to music and the arts, while nurturing the whole child and building confidence, friendships, and lifelong skills. Session schedules are listed for Summer and Fall, with Summer running from 2026-06-29 to 2026-08-23 and Fall running from 2026-09-14 to 2026-11-08.
Must have an active YMCA Family Membership. A current e-mail address must be on file prior to registration. Three or more unexcused absences from a free program may result in forfeiting the spot. Children age 5 & under must have a parent/guardian present during program time. A parent/guardian of children 12 & under must remain at the Y. The YMCA may cancel/combine classes at any time. All classes and schedules are subject to change.
