About
ROAMFurther Athletics Youth Classes & Camps offers parkour, ninja, and obstacle training through youth classes, youth camps, and after-school activities. The program also hosts birthday parties, runs World Chase Tag-based games, and offers a team building program. Adult obstacle training fitness classes and an in-house coffee bar are also part of the facility’s offerings.
• Ages: 1–17 years old
Owner, Founder, and Program Director Joseph Cannato leads the program. The coaching staff includes coaches, athletes, and adventurers with well over a decade of experience in both movement disciplines and the instruction of them. ROAMFurther Athletics hosts “LITTLE ROAMER & ME” classes for toddlers, ROAMANS classes for teens, and ROAM FIT programs for adults. Youth classes, camps, and after-school activities focus on the fundamentals of parkour, with specialized movement, exploration, and developmental skill sets for kids as young as 9 months and as old as 17 years. Guided by the coaching team, students learn principles and skills of parkour, with competitive classes preparing students for the three primary formats of competitive parkour: Speed, Skill, and Style. Youth camps include dynamic skill development and play, with games like Chase Tag based on ESPN’s “World Chase Tag,” led by World Chase Tag athletes, and use a modular training space so each camp can feature different obstacle layouts. Birthday parties provide a high-energy, coach-led athletic experience with exclusive use of the training facility, where highly skilled coaches create parkour- and ninja-based obstacle challenges for kids of different ages and abilities.
The training center features parkour-inspired architecture, Ninja Warrior Warped Walls, and a modular training space that can be reconfigured for different classes, camps, and events. ROAMFurther Athletics describes movement as the fundamental way people interact with the world and states that learning to move and use the body shifts a person from being an observer to being an active participant. The in-house coffee bar serves espresso, tea, tonic-based beverages, local baked goods, and other thoughtfully sourced treats, with coffee, tea, and time-tested drinks made with specific attention to ingredient quality and care. News 12 Westchester visited the program to create an interview and cinematic parkour video that highlights the philosophy and training at ROAMFurther Athletics.
