About
Asphalt Green Summer Day Camp includes daily swim instruction along with sports such as basketball, soccer, baseball, tennis, flag football, GaGa ball, and martial arts. Campers also take part in creative writing, improv, film, storytime, music, yoga, arts and crafts, dance, theater, and STEM robotics. Divisions include Pee-Wee Camp for children entering kindergarten and 1st grade, Junior Camp for children entering grades 2–3, Senior Camp for children entering grades 4–8, and a Leadership-in-Training Program for teenagers entering grades 9–11.

Each period at Asphalt Green Summer Day Camp is run by a coach or specialist with extensive experience in their particular activity. Lunch is provided for campers every day except for field trip days, and vegetables and fruit are included; salad, sandwiches, and plain pasta are available daily as an alternative to the main meal, and snacks are provided twice a day. Campers must bring their own nut-free lunch on field trip day. All Senior Camp age groups (rising 4th–8th graders) at the Upper East Side campus are currently on a waitlist for Summer 2026.
Asphalt Green is a nonprofit organization with a mission to transform lives and build community through sports, fitness, and play for all. Its founding location has offered sports, fitness, swim, and recreational programming for over 50 years, and since 1972 Asphalt Green has expanded its locations, programs, and offerings throughout the city. Asphalt Green’s Community Basketball League expands access to organized sports by bringing free and low-cost sports programming to public schools, and Asphalt Green serves as the general operator of the Major R. Owens Health & Wellness Community Center facility and its fitness center.
Parents have shared that their children “came home happy every single day this Summer” and “LOVES everything about camp at Asphalt Green,” and that their child “had the time of her life this summer making friends and learning new activities and values.” Other parents describe the camp as “convenient, well run, and accommodating,” with “varied and fun” activities, and say they are thankful for the experience their children have had at Asphalt Green Summer Day Camp.
