Teatown Natural Science Day Camps are part of Teatown’s natural science day camps offered in the summer and during school breaks. Campers take part in activities such as hiking, including the Three Lakes Hike, and programs like Handling the Heat. The program is connected to environmental education programs, wildlife exhibits, and opportunities to schedule a tour to Wildflower Island.
Teatown has a 50+ year history and is an environmental science, research, and education organization. Its mission is to inspire the community to lifelong environmental stewardship. Teatown is an accredited land trust that protects 1,000 acres and is the largest privately held nature preserve in Westchester at 1,000 acres. The organization has 15 miles of hiking trails that are open daily from dawn to dusk, 365 days a year. Teatown includes a two-acre island refuge for over 230 species of native wildflowers and has resident Animal Ambassadors and a nature store. Teatown’s environmental education programs reached 20,000 individuals last year. Teatown received national recognition as an Accredited Land Trust from the Land Trust Alliance’s Land Trust Accreditation Commission. A major campus transformation is underway, including a new Education Center, trail and parking updates, and a Nature Center renovation.
