Oswego YMCA Youth Programs include activities at the main YMCA and at the Youth Center & Skate Park. The Youth Center also offers free open gym time at the YMCA on specific afternoons during the week.
• Schedule: Oswego YMCA hours are Monday–Friday 6:00 am–9:00 pm, Saturday 8:00 am–6:00 pm, and Sunday 8:00 am–4:00 pm. Youth Center hours are Monday–Friday 11:00 am–6:00 pm. The Youth Center offers free open gym at the YMCA on Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 3:00 pm–5:00 pm.
Since 1855, the Oswego YMCA has focused on empowering young people, improving health and well-being, and inspiring action in and across the Greater Oswego area. Its stated cause is strengthening community by investing in kids, health, and neighbors, and by bringing together people from different backgrounds, perspectives, and generations. The organization states that its programs are guided by core values of caring, honesty, respect, and inclusion.
The Oswego YMCA reports that 1,350 members from the Greater Oswego community belong to the YMCA. It reports that 8,430 kids participated in youth sports, enrichment programs, summer camp, and the play and learn center, and that 159 children and families use the Before and After School programs in the Oswego City School District and Mexico Central School District. It also reports that 7,908 people of all ages took part in family programs, community leagues, and special events.
The leadership team includes Cheryl Baldwin (Executive Director), Trish Levine (Communications & Marketing Director and Health & Wellness Director), Amanda Belden (Education & Family Director), Kate DuVall (Human Resources Manager), Alyssa Smith (Membership Administrator), Pam Stephens (Membership Engagement Coordinator), Kim Christopher (Play & Learn Center Coordinator), Colton Dryden (Respite Director), Amy Miller (School Age Childcare & Summer Camp Director), and Peter Griffin (Sports, Youth Center Director). The Executive Board includes Robert Close (President/Chair), Trina Mills (Vice President/VC), Olivia Peel (Secretary), and Cynthia Tascarella (Treasurer), with board members Sandra Beshures, Taylor Davis, Kevin Kovacs, Steve Gioia, Rosemary Poindexter, and Mike Russell.
