The organization’s mission is to connect people to the water through education and recreation, including harbor tours aboard the National Historic Landmark oyster sloop CHRISTEEN and hands-on educational experiences on IDA MAY, a replica of one of the first engine-powered oyster dredges that serves as a floating classroom. The WaterFront Center is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization created through a collaborative effort by community advocates and elected officials and is committed to affordable and free programming so that people of different ages, abilities, and financial backgrounds have access to the water. Its partners include local government, community groups, sailing organizations, environmental groups, and youth and family agencies.
