Sagamore Yacht Club Sailing Programs offers summer sailing and junior sailing, with options that include sailing, racing, and regattas. The programs take place within a members-only yacht club that is open to both boaters and non-boaters.
• Schedule: Launch service hours in 2026 are Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 0800 to 2200; Wednesday and Friday from 0800 to 2300; Saturday from 0730 to 2300; and Sunday from 0730 to 2200.
Sagamore Yacht Club was established in 1944 and notes both that it is celebrating over 80 years of tradition and that it celebrated its 75th anniversary in 2019. The club offers year-round activities that include winter skeet, summer sailing, complete anglers, junior sailing, and social events for families. The club operates launch service on VHF Channel 78A and notes that dockage is reserved for members only, that it does not maintain slips or overnight dockage, and that tenders are permitted at all times and are the responsibility of their owners. The club has two full-service event spaces that can host private events for members with board approval. Leadership roles include Gregory Bradley (R/C, PC) as the summer sailing and racing phone contact and membership chair, Club Secretary Lindsay Thornton (PC), bookkeeper Kristin Cerbo, and treasurer Karen Favata. The club’s name, Sagamore, was chosen in honor of Teddy Roosevelt, whose summer residence is on Sagamore Hill in Oyster Bay Cove, and as a historic nod to Long Island’s original inhabitants.
